Sunday Supper: Sup the Chemist - Eargasmic Arrangements (2003)

I know I'm posting this on Wednesday, but it was supposed to post on Sunday. I had it all set up, but it was still showing draft. Oh well... enjoy this Wednesday Supper, LOL.

I found this disc digging through a box of tapes looking for another Sunday Supper. I thought I had long lost this CD. Eargasmic Arrangements is the last album from Sup. The cover spells his name as Soup the Chemist, another alias to add to them all- Super C, just Sup, Sup the Chemist, and Soup the Chemist, or the man known as Chris Cooper.

The liner notes include these definitions:

EARGASMIC >> The sensation perceived by the sense of hearing, a metrical or rhythmic pattern of sound or sounds. Creating 'an' alpha wave that stimulates a delicate sensibility, especially as expressed by a work of art.

ARRANGEMENT >> The adaptation of a musical composition by "re-scoring," to arrange hypnotic elements in measure of time.

This is a very accessible album. I think it's probably his best solo effort, the review on HHHDB.com says, "Eargasmic Arrangements could easily become Soup's most complete album in his long discography," though I believe Illumination and Phase III are his true masterpieces. Nevertheless, Sup brings the noise with a load of talented guests, some names you'll recognize, whether a fan of mainstream or gospel hip hop. Production by Sup himself, as well as J Beits, Bless 1, Mystro, and Cookbook. Check out "All Over the World," "Ego Trippin'," and "Word Play," and my favorite "Turntablist," an ode to the crates.
